False Prophets and Shepherds

Through our journey within this world, we are guided by the word of God, but the word only has meaning if we believe and accept the word.

We are presented with many messages of the world and false prophets who have no understanding of the word. We are presented with messages of those who would confuse us, those who would cause us doubt. We are tempted to be lead astray by those who are wolves in sheep's clothing.

If we do not study the word, we will not know the word. If we do not know the word, how can we believe in it and accept it? If we do not know the word, how will we know when we are being lead astray by false prophets; the deceptions of Satan?

God has called many shepherds to help guide His sheep in the word. God has blessed us with His Church to help us live within His word. God has blessed us with His clergy to teach us and help us understand the word of the Lord.

But make no mistake, Satan seeks the destruction of God's Church, the tempting of our souls away from the word and the Spirit, the very path to heaven. How best to destroy the flock than to first destroy the shepherds. We must pray for our clergy as they are human as each of us. They are tempted to sin and face the same struggle.

We must pray that our shepherds are strengthened against the attacks of Satan, that through God's strength and the power of the Holy Spirit that they remain true and faithful in the their teaching of the word of the Lord. We must pray for the strength of our clergy that they may fulfill the calling of the Lord to lead us in our understanding of the word so that we may believe and accept the true meaning, so we may live in the way of the Lord.

Dear Lord, protect our clergy, protect our shepherds so that we are not lead astray. Give the leaders of Your Church the wisdom to teach us the truth and the strength to guide us from Satan's snares. Give us the wisdom to recognize Your word and the deceptions of false prophets. In the name of Jesus we pray.
